Dr. Sergio Ramírez Tapia is a bilingual physician, healthcare executive, and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience connecting patient care, hospital leadership, and health insurance coordination. His career combines clinical practice with an understanding of how providers, insurers, and organizations can work together to improve access and continuity of care.
As Founder and Medical-Administrative Director of Grupo AMI in Mexicali, he built an occupational health business addressing regional workplace needs. He has developed preventive health programs, established strategic partnerships, recruited medical teams, and guided employers in risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and employee safety.
Previously, Dr. Ramírez served as Medical Director of Hospital Hispano Americano and held hospital administration roles at ISSSTE Hospital General in Mexicali and Hospital Centro Médico Nova in Tijuana. His responsibilities encompassed clinical quality, physician recruitment, financial oversight, resource allocation, and operational improvement.
His work with health plans, including MediAccess, Salud Interactiva, and MediProses, has centered on coordinating care, reviewing cases, facilitating authorizations, and strengthening communication among patients, clinicians, and insurers. Alongside these responsibilities, he maintains a primary care practice, with clinical interests in obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
